Natural high protein low cost easily transported animal supplement
- High protein cattle feed for rancher
Final Decision Maker: Farmer / Rancher
CJ Feeds' ultimate goal is to develop a full line of high protein feed pellets for animals by using a surplus by-product of an industry's production. The dramatic increase of this industrial process regionally has created a ready surplus of this by-product. Our feed will provide increased profitability for animal producers by lowering their overall costs compared to buying traditional feed products. CJ Feeds' process reduces the moisture content to a storable amount (7% to 12%) and a 50% reduction in weight of the final feeding pellet. Again this translates into a financial gain for the consumer, who will have to pay less in freight per pound of feed. Also the longer shelf life (product has been stored over 2 years without problems) lends itself to purchasing the product in bulk or in larger quantities. Normal production runs produce a product that is 20% protein, 15% fiber, with 63% total digestible nutrients. This test was done by an independent lab. The pricing strategy affords a reasonable profit margin through the direct sales process. However, plans for being 10% to 15% under market price from comparable feeds should help entice customers to try the new product. In addition, customers who purchase the feed in bulk or in large quantities of bagged product can expect a 3% discount and if paid within 30 days receive an additional 2% discount for a standard product. For a slight adjustment in price the individual customer can customize the percentage of protein, fiber, and mineral content to meet individual needs. In order to be an industry leader, CJ Feeds will implement continued research and development to stay in the forefront of feed products. Production strategies have been thoroughly researched to maximize efficiency, quality, and content. The production of the feed product assures the consumer a consistent product for distribution over a large geographic area. The manufacturer has a product that has a long and durable shelf life. The local rancher, Rick, who fed the product had this to say, "CJ Feeds product had similar results as the Purina calf preconditioning chow and it received a very positive response from sick cattle". Rick also stated that he believed this feed has a place in the market and he would be a willing participant in any future testing.

Rick also stated that he believed this feed has a place in the market and he would be a willing participant in any future testing. Maybe a foreign market could be established. We feel the product can be changed, by adding different ingredients and or minerals to meet the customer's needs. |
