Scenes of desperate earthquake survivors in Haiti trying to move tons of broken debris with bare hands and the massive task of rebuilding sparked the development a Wheeled Hand Tool System TM (WHaTS) that can accomplish far more than a wheelbarrow. Based on a rugged, well balanced, universal frame and flat proof wheel system, a wide variety of leverage and load carrying attachments and bodies may be slipped into front receiver sockets and bolted to the frame. Some of the leverage attachments are: a single bar lifter for dislodging rocks and debris; a double bar lifter & loader for raising very heavy objects; a shrub and post puller; plus many more specialized attachments. In addition to the standard wheelbarrow style tub, a variety of bodies may be interchanged on the frame such as: a rack for firewood; a compost & gravel screener/sifter; a bulk transport rack for hay and brush; a garden cart style body with detachable sideboards; a comfortable seat for transporting people; and a liquid tank. The frame may be equipped with a centered wheel for maximum mobility or rapidly converted to double wheels for excellent stability. You may slip the standard wheelbarrow style handles from their sockets and replace them with handles that change the grip height or with a cross bar handle that allows you to push or pull with your body leaning into the bar. With the double wheels installed and a hitch replacing the handles, you can tow a WHaTS behind a lawn tractor or may insert shafts into the handle sockets and pull the WHaTS behind a small draft animal. The universal main frame is readily adaptable to a wide variety of productive tasks, many of which the WHaTS can accomplish better than specialized hand tools currently on the market. WHaTS is designed to ship compactly and assemble easily. This exceptionally high quality, virtually indestructible tool system can be delivered for a cost that is less than an array of less effective and less durable, single purpose hand tools. While the WHaTS is an ideal, multi-purpose tool system for US and international aid agencies to provide for economic development or post disaster response, the attractive system also appeals to gardeners, landscapers and homeowners with a few acres who take pride in well built, long lasting, uniquely useful tools that they can pass down to successive generations.
