Woodworking companies can now achieve superior surface finishes on their products with the superior Helical Cutterhead.  Products machined with our cutterhead require less time to finish, which translates into faster turnaround to your customers, and decreases employee time and steps in the process. Our product is also popular in technical schools because it is significantly quieter than alternatives.  Over 100 cutterheads have already been sold.

The patent pending helical cutterhead was designed by Hermance Machine, a leader in the woodworking equipment and service industry, to improve existing technology in woodworking machinery.  The product was developed from a lack of quality seen in their competition's products - many competitors make claims that are inaccurate.  In fact, one machine manufacturer came to us to help solve a problem in a specific application of thin material - the product they were using would destroy the workpiece. The cutterhead we provided solved the issue.

The designer of the Hermance Helical Cutterhead, who has over 30 years of experience in this industry, took on the challenge of developing a superior product.  This was done by taking specific considerations (noise, dust collection, surface finish, and maintenance) into account, and designing to correctly position the knives on the cutterhead.  Our cutterhead is noticeably quieter over conventional straight knife cutters by tipping the inserts so they don't hit as bluntly. Dust collection is at least 50% better than conventional straight knife cutters because we created three different cutter geometries that extract the dust to the center, left, or right.   The surface finish is superior by thorough design and manufacturing. Grain tearout is also reduced by tipping the knives to cut rather than plow.
