Final Decision Maker: professional and do-it-yourself carpenter's
"Simply Safe" carpenter's pencil sharpener. A revolutionary tool for the professional and amateur carpenter. This design is simple and would be easy to manufacture using existing technoligies.It is afforadable,safe and easy to use. It is designed to shave the wood not the lead. It can be made from recyceled materials and in turn can be recyceled, therefore helping the enviroment. It would eleminate the use of utility knives on the job thereby saving money on lost time and injuries so it could also be considered a safety tool. Based on research one of the main complaints was the sharp point that a knife or other sharpener's gave to the pencil. My design eleminates that because with a carpenter's pencil it is the one time that you DON'T want to get the point. Over thirty years as a carpenter i have seen many injuries caused by various knife sharpeners and other mechanicall sharpeners go by the way. Experience has proven there is a need for a safe, simple and effective carpenter's pencil sharpener.
