Forestry needs a method of estimating forest parameters such as density and timber volume, lest we venture out to count and measure every tree in the forest. Currently available software requires loads of input data, making the inventory process time consuming and thus, more expensive. We've developed a program that gives you an equally accurate estimate with significantly less input data. That means you spend less time on the slow, monotonous busy work of collecting data and more time on the important stuff. Our software translates significantly less sample data into an accurate estimate of dry biomass per acre. It is based on national biomass equations and works with any species in the United States. Additionally, it determines the number of sample plots needed to reach a desired statistical precision in the estimate. You can even take it into the field with you on any handheld device that uses Microsoft Excel Mobile. What this means for you is a precision result in a fraction of the time. And time is money.
Finally, with the development of carbon trading markets for working forests in the United States, it is important that forest inventory tools measure total above-ground biomass for all woody plant species with desired statistical confidence. This tool does just that.
